Madison, Mississippi

2010-2011

The Madison Middle School Choir program in Madison, Mississippi, includes two teachers, Donna Crisler and Jan Bruening.

Mrs. Bruening has taught the Beginner Girls Choir since joining Madison Middle School in 2008.  Although the Beginner Girls haven’t participated in competitions, they have performed in two choir concerts each school year and also perform at several in-school programs each year.

Mrs. Crisler teaches the Beginner Boys, the Treble Select Girls, the Chamber Boys, and the Chamber Girls choirs.  Mrs. Crisler joined the Madison School District in 1995.  Since then her choirs have consistently achieved superior ratings in district and state choral competitions.  In addition to these exceptional results, Madison Middle School’s choral program offers a musical education that is considered one of the best in Mississippi and the Southeast.

During Mrs. Crisler’s tenure in Madison, her choral students performed by invitation at Carnegie Hall in New York City two times.  Her groups have also traveled to compete in national festivals in St. Louis, Chicago, and New York City.  In every competition her students have received superior scores by national standards and have usually received the top awards for each festival.

These students are wonderful ambassadors for the city of Madison, Mississippi.  Their desire to work hard and aim for perfection certainly represents those who call Madison home.
